ISR 2015 | Program | Posters | Registration | Local Information | Lecture Notes
If you liked this ISR: spread the word, and send your friends and colleagues to future ISRs (2016 in Sydney, 2017 in the Netherlands - to be confirmed).
In particular, we welcome short statements by participants (both students and lecturers) about this (or past) ISR that could be shown on the call-for-participation web page of future ISRs, and perhaps on the general ISR page. Send by email to J.W., and preferrably include permission to show your name.
One more thing: we also would want to know where you (student and lecturer) heard of ISR, to find out what is the most efficient channel of advertising for future events. (For students: if you were sent here by your supervisor, ask them where they got the information on ISR.)
Registration, lectures and coffee breaks will be in Gutenberg-Bau of HTWK Leipzig, first floor. (Gustav-Freytag-Str. 42, location on OSM, see also HTWK campus map.)
Rooms (all on the same floor)
Lunch is at Campus Bistro of Telekom Hochschule, Gustav-Freytag-Straße 43 (5 min walk), location. There will be a choice of meals, which we ask you to make in advance (there’ll be a list at the registration desk).
For exceptions (Monday, Wednesday), see below. Regular daily schedule is:
|————–|————–| | 09:00-10:30 | lecture 1 | | 10:30 | coffee break | | 11:00-12:30 | lecture 2 | | 12:45 | lunch | | 14:00-15:30 | lecture 3 | | 15:30 | coffee break | | 16:00-17:30 | lecture 4 |
Schedule for Monday August 10 (opening day)
Schedule for Wednesday August 12 (excursion day)
We will suggest places to go to in the evenings. Local students will act as guides. We recommend participants and lecturers use the opportunity to spend time together.
Sunday, August 9: around 7 p.m. at Connstanze Kochstraße 132, location, near tram stop Connewitz Kreuz,
Monday: 7:30 pm at Moritzbastei Universitätsstraße 9, location. How to get there: walk (3.5 km) or take tram 9, 11 to Roßplatz then walk (200 m). At Moritzbastei, walk down the stairs, the restaurant is in the basement. History of Moritzbastei (with Angela Merkel reference).
Tuesday night: Discover Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. Between Kurt-Eisner-Straße and Südplatz, this has a high density of typical restaurants (pubs). We booked Kollektiv (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 72), Pata Negra (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 75), Mc Cormacks (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 75), for 8 persons each. You will be assigned randomly after lunch.
Wednesday: excursion and dinner
Thursday (if you want the work-out) Indoor Climbing (Bouldering) at No Limit Kletterhalle, Dessauer Straße 2.
Meet 7:15 pm at tram stop Connewitz Kreuz, take tram 9 direction Thekla to Apelstraße (takes 30 min). Guide: Franziska.
Thursday (if you’re lazy) 7:30 pm Restaurant Telegraph, Dittrichring 18.
Take tram 9 direction Thekla to Thomaskirche.
The restaurant is quite close to the city center (200m from Markt, Altes Rathaus). Recommended activities in the city:
We can meet in front of City-Hochhaus at 6:50 pm, then go to the platform, then walk to the restaurant from there, visiting (very briefly) Mädlerpassage and Markt on the way.
Friday
please return you name tags (put in cardboard box in coffee room)
hand in your questionnaire after the last lecture (put in the very same box)
Basic Track Exam Survivor Celebration (All Welcome): 7:00 p.m. at Cafe (Biergarten) Südbrause, Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 154, walking distance from school and hotel.
The local organizers thank all lecturers and participants, and wish everyone a nice and safe journey home.
Leipzig has an airport, with an express train (30 min) to Leipzig Central.
Leipzig Central (Hauptbahnhof) is on the German high speed railway network (ICE) and has frequent connections to Berlin (1 hour), Frankfurt (4 hours), Munich (4 hours).
Directions to ISR from Leipzig Central: take tram 9 (direction Markkleeberg West), or 11 (Markkleeberg Ost) to station Connewitz-Kreuz. More info on tram and bus.
Directions to Hotel Alt-Connewitz from Leipzig Airport: take train S5 (direction Altenburg) or S5X (direction Zwickau) to station Leipzig-Connewitz, then walk.
NOTE (August 4): tram 11 takes a detour (Umleitung), you can still take it. Tram 10 is replaced by a bus (Schienenersatzverkehr) which you can also take - if you find out where it starts. In any case, go to Connewitz Kreuz.
Tram tickets: generally “Einzelfahrt 4-Fahrtenkarte” (9.60 EUR) seems best. It’s one ticket, valid for four rides. Buy at the machine at the tram stop, and stamp inside the tram (once for each ride). There are ticket machines in the trams as well but they don’t offer this ticket (just single ride, 2.50 EUR). There are day, week, and group tickets but it’s not economical for only two rides a day.
Participants should accommodate themselves. Leipzig has lots of hotels of all price ranges. (More tourist info)
We have reserved some rooms in Hotel Alt-Connewitz at a discounted price (mention “8th ISR” when you contact the hotel). These are double rooms, so you should find someone to share.
